The first way, is by using a densifier is during the grinding phase. This densifier hardens your concrete over time and makes it easier to maintain. The second way, is by applying an impregnator at the end of the concrete polishing process. The impregnator is to concrete what Scotchgard is to carpet. However, it is one of the most difficult stones to polish, especially black and red granites. Granite polishing is a painstaking process, demanding ten times the honing with diamond abrasives as marble polishing does.
Granite can become dull and damaged through daily wear and tear or scratches. Because granite has such a high concentration of quartz, it can be scratched by the traces of quartz in tracked-in soil.
